Here are five things you need to do in order to use Blackberry’s App World:

1. Ensure you have a compatible Blackberry. You’ll need one of the following:

• BlackBerry® Bold™ 9000 smartphone
• BlackBerry® Storm™ smartphone
• BlackBerry® Pearl™ Flip Series
• BlackBerry® Curve™ 8300 Series
• BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 smartphone
• BlackBerry® 8800 Series
• BlackBerry® Pearl™ Series

Have a trackwheel? You’re out of luck as App World is not supported on your device.

2. Make sure you have the latest software. App World requires at least BlackBerry smartphone operating system 4.2 or higher. You can upgrade to v4.5.

3. Register for Blackberry App World. This is basically a form you can fill out so RIM can inform you when App World goes live.

4. If you don’t have one, sign up for a Paypal account. It’s the only way to purchase apps in App World.

5. Wait until RIM emails you to let you know that App World is alive and well.
