Research in Motion (RIM) and U2 have announced the U2 360 Degree Tour sponsored by, you guessed it, Blackberry. Wow, a new relationship between Blackberry and U2. Wait, something feels familiar about this. I seem to remember not too long ago, that U2 hooked up with Apple to release the U2 iPod.
Seems that Bono has a thing for portable devices. Besides his band’s past relationship with Apple, he is also, according to a CNBC story, a partner in a venture firm, Elevation Partners and Elevation Partners owns 39% of Palm (although Elevation Partner’s website says only that they own 27% of Palm, as of 2007). Palm is set to release the Pre phone this year. Wonder what Apple and Palm think of the new U2 360 Degree Tour? Ahh, does it really matter when there’s a new U2 tour? Well, to Apple and Palm, it just might matter indeed.
